The
Public Knowledge Project is a federally funded project dedicated to
exploring whether and how new technologies can be used to improve the
professional and public value of scholarly research. As a
research programmer in the development team, I designed and implemented
the Open Journal System 1.1.8 and analyzed its performance with the
Open Archives Harvesters. Open Journal System is a journal
management and publishing system designed using PHP4 and SQL
databases. One of my primary task in this project is to
prototype, implement, and test the internationalization of OJS so that
it also support Chinese, French, Spanish, Portuguese in addition to
English.
